1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of GeoQuest Adventures (the "site"), available at www.geoquestadventures.com. By using the site you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree to any part of them, please do not use the site. The site is operated by an independent UK-based team and is offered free of charge to children, parents and teachers worldwide.
2. Who the site is for
GeoQuest Adventures is designed for children aged roughly 5 to 12 (UK Key Stage 1 and 2 / US Kindergarten to Grade 6) and the adults who help them learn. We do not require accounts and do not knowingly collect personal information from any visitor. Children under 13 should always use the internet with the awareness of a parent, carer or teacher; the site has been built to be safe for unsupervised use, but no online experience is a substitute for adult guidance.
3. Permitted use
You are welcome to use the games, quizzes, country fact pages, interactive maps and printable resources for personal, family and classroom learning. Teachers may project the site onto whiteboards, share direct links with pupils, and download our printables for use in their classrooms or as homework. You must not, however, use the site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, scrape the site at a rate that disrupts service for other visitors, or republish substantial parts of our written content elsewhere without our permission.
4. Intellectual property
All original written content, the visual design, the codebase, the educational structure of the quizzes and the layout of our printables are © GeoQuest Adventures and may not be copied, modified or redistributed without our written consent, except where these terms expressly permit. Country flag images are used under public-domain or open licences (primarily FlagCDN and Wikimedia Commons). Map data is derived from open sources including Natural Earth and OpenStreetMap. Country facts are compiled from reputable encyclopaedic sources and rewritten in our own words for a young audience.
If you believe any content on the site infringes your rights, please contact us via the Contact page and we will investigate promptly.
5. Educational accuracy and disclaimers
We work hard to keep the geographical, political and statistical information on the site accurate and up to date, but the world changes constantly: borders shift, capitals are renamed, populations grow and decline. The site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the content is free from errors or omissions, and we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of information found here. If you spot a mistake, please let us know and we will correct it as quickly as possible.
6. Third-party services and external links
The site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are most popular and Google AdSense to show family-safe contextual advertising that keeps the site free to use. Details of how these services work, what data they receive and how they are configured to be child-safe are set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. The site also links occasionally to reputable external resources (Wikipedia, BBC, National Geographic and similar). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or availability of any external site we link to.
7. Advertising
GeoQuest Adventures shows display advertising served by Google AdSense. Because the site is directed at children, we have flagged every page as "directed to children" in Google's publisher controls, which disables behavioural targeting. We also block sensitive ad categories such as gambling, alcohol, dating and weapons. If you ever see an advertisement that you consider inappropriate for a child, please report it via our Contact page.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GeoQuest Adventures and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of educational progress saved in your browser, or any consequence of relying on information presented on the site. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally to reflect changes to the site or to applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always show the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Contact
Questions, corrections, takedown requests and child-safety reports can all be sent through our Contact page. We read every message and aim to reply within a few working days.
